Rearview mirrors are always clearer than windshields. The past, in retrospect, often appears orderly and predictable, while the road ahead is filled with uncertainties. The speed and frequency of change are increasing. Change is perpetual, pervasive, and exponential. Change that used to take place over years and decades is now taking place in weeks or days.
For years, the VUCA model—Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity—has been the go-to approach for understanding an unpredictable world. However, a new paradigm has emerged: BANI—Brittle, Anxious, Non-Linear, and Incomprehensible.
Let’s understand the two concepts before we introduce our 3 D Leader!

BANI: BANI builds upon VUCA but acknowledges the sheer fragility and unpredictability of today’s challenges:

● Anxious – Uncertainty fuels anxiety, making trust, communication, and mental well-being critical aspects of leadership.
